Event description

Description

Come along for a fun day helping manage a local woodland - and go home with a wood supply!

Community Woodfuel is a type of event where you can come and learn how to fell trees safely by hand, under expert supervision. Any wood which you fell, you can take home.

We will only be felling selected marked trees, with the objective of carrying out thinning necessary at this stage of Peter Elderfield Memeorial Woodland's cycle.

Participnts often take wood for firewood, but we have had people taking their harvested wood for other uses including furniture making, carving, construction, mushroom growing and donating to local schools for denbuilding!

This event is suitable for anyone in good physical health - all training and tools will be provided by our experienced leader. Please contact us if you would like to bring a (sensible) young person under 18 so we can carry out additional planning to ensure their safety throughout the event.

Parking - Please park considerately in the residential streets around Templars Way, Whitwick, leaving the turning circle at the end of Templars Way vacant for dog walkers and for vehicle loading during the event.
