Description

Compass- Ethical - Travel and Volunteering Conference

In association with Born Free and Blood Lions.

Are you looking to volunteer abroad this year or may be looking for that great safari adventure in Africa?

This event offers advice & information for people who are interested in volunteering and want to make sure that what they do is of value to themselves and the people they work with. There are now loads of ways to get involved in volunteering. You might be taking a gap year after school, or a career break from your job, you might have been given the chance to have a sabbatical or you might have retired and be looking for new adventures. Whether you have a few weeks or a few years there are now loads of organisations that will help you find a volunteer programme.

But some of these programmes are much better than others. While volunteers intentions are nearly always good, this does not mean that all volunteer prorgammes are good. Indeed there are some programmes, out there that can be said to do more harm than good.

On the day there will be speakers such as Will Travers OBE, President of The Born Free Organisation, Daniel Turner from The Born Free Foundation, Dominic Dyer from th Badger Trust, Cathy Smith from Orangutan Foundation,Charlotte Laursen from Working ABroad , along with the screening of the documentary Blood Lions plus representatives from ethical volunteer agencies and projects. It is certain to be an information packed day that is designed to inspire...

The day is set to empower you with knowledge to help you make informed decisions...
