Event description
An 8 week online course in how to find greater peace and satisfaction in your own life and support others through the power of compassion

About this event

COMPASSION CULTIVATION TRAINING (CCT)

Wednesdays at 6:30-8:30 p.m., 16 February - 6 April 2022

Scientific research shows that compassion - having an active concern for the suffering of oneself and others - helps to reduce stress, increase life satisfaction and happiness, and improve personal relationships.

This eight week course teaches simple but effective meditations to develop greater compassion for oneself and others. It is based on a combination of proven meditation techniques from the Buddhist tradition with the latest scientific research. The course is non-religious and suitable for those of any faith or none.

The programme has been developed by Dr. Thupten Jinpa, English translator for the Dalai Lama and author of the acclaimed book ‘ Fearless Heart: How the Courage to be Compassionate can Transform our Lives’, together with a team of psychology researchers and meditation instructors at Stanford University.

Instructor

The course is taught by David Midgley, who is a senior teacher at Jamyang Buddhist Centre Leeds, and is accredited by Compassion Institute as a CCT instructor.

Points to Note

  • This is very much an interactive course, therefore live participation is important. To complete the course you are required to attend a minimum of six of the eight live sessions.
  • Guided meditation recordings are provided each week to assist you in following the meditation practices that are taught. To gain the maximum value from the course it is important to practice the meditations regularly.

Course Cost

The cost is £200 for the eight sessions; a discount of 50% is offered for those on a low income. For those unable to afford this lower cost, we hope to offer some supported places - if you would like to support someone who cannot afford the fee, please choose the Supporter Ticket option to pay the supporter price of £300.

For further information, or to discuss a supported place, please contact David Midgley at davidmidgley02@gmail.com.
