Compendium for the Civic Economy
Thursday, May 12, 2011 from 8:45 AM to 10:15 AM (BST)
Please join us on Thursday 12th May to launch the Compendium for the Civic Economy. This new publication showcases existing civic initiatives that are transforming local economies and places. The event will showcase some of the case studies in the book and allow us to share some of the insights that emerge.
From the People’s Supermarket to pop-up shops in Brixton; community waste-to-energy plants to co-operative telecoms, these are all new initiatives that combine 21st Century technologies? Knowledge? with deep-rooted civic behaviours to build new models of sustainable economic and social development.
Produced by research and design practice 00:/, the collection holds lessons for government, business and communities in how to help this economy grow. We’ll hear from pioneers in this field and hope that you can join us for a lively and informative debate.
Speakers include Pam Warhurst, Incredible Edible Todmoden, Sam Coniff, Livity and Inderpaul Johar, 00:/.
