Ⅰ. Introduction

In order to actively respond to the nation construction spirit of “One Belt and One Road", Music at Queen Mary University of London will cooperate with Chinese Classical Instruments Studio (UK), jointly organizing the first China-UK International Music Festival, and co-organize with Confucius Institute QMUL, hosting concert and music workshops, to promote cultural communication and make the Sino-British cultural communion. The music festival includes music competitions, master lectures, concert and party. The juries and guests are all with high reputation around the world.

Ⅲ. Competition Contents

a. Competition Categories

1、Vocal: Folk song, Bel

2、Western Music: Piano, Violin, Viola, Cello, bass, flute, accordion, percussion and so on.

3、Chinese instrument music: Guqin, zither, pipa, erhu, dulcimer, Hulusi, flute, three-string fiddle, Ruan and percussion, etc.

b. Competition Groups

1. Professional groups (Conservatory of music and art schools)

1) Song Dynasty - Group A (under 14 years old)

2) Tang Dynasty - Group B (aged 15-18)

3) Han Dynasty - Group C (over 19 years old)

4) Qin Dynasty – Ensemble

2. Non-professional groups

1) Romantic - Group A (under 14 years old)

2) Classic - Group B (aged 15-18)

3) Renaissance - Group C (over 19 years old)

4) Medieval - Ensemble

c. Attentions for Players

1、This competition is a free chosen song (5 minutes).

2、The judges and staff may suspend performance according to the performance of the contestants, without affecting the performance of the competition.

3、All contestants must play from memory during the competition.

4、All contestants should wear a formal suit or costume during the competition.

5、The organizing committee can provide the piano, zither, dulcimer, bass, percussion instruments for fee, and other musical instruments should be prepared by competitors.

6、The organizing committee may provide a piano accompanist for the players for fee.

d. Competition Awards

1、Gold, silver, bronze, excellence award of the competition, excellent guidance.

2、The excellent players would be recommend to a higher level international arts festival in the UK.

3、Teacher honor: Outstanding instructor will award "International Outstanding Tutor Award" and display personal profile on the official website of the festival, and publish an exclusive interview.
