High-level executives of UnILiON member universities, European policymakers, and industry representatives will convene to explore how Europe can strengthen its innovation capacity through deeper university–industry collaboration.
Under the theme “Competitive Together: Universities and Industry for a Prosperous Europe”, discussions will highlight opportunities, challenges, and best practices from Higher Education Institutions in building robust collaborative ecosystems. They will also reflect on the responsibility of researchers and academic leaders in shaping Europe’s innovation future.
As the EU seeks to reinforce its global position, one fact is clear: Europe cannot close its innovation gap without its universities. As engines of both fundamental and applied research, we drive scientific discovery, industrial co-creation, and the cultivation of highly skilled talent. We do not just support innovation—we generate it.
This event also calls on rectors, vice-rectors, and researchers to reflect on their individual roles in advancing Europe’s innovation agenda. As President von der Leyen reminded us in her STOA address: “We all have a role to play.” A prosperous, competitive Europe demands nothing less—it is time to formally recognize and embed the role of universities as strategic co-creators of Europe’s innovation landscape.
