About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

This free 90-minute online workshop for people in VCSE/Charity sectors, provides attendees with the tools to help service users navigate the complex complaint landscape

The workshop is only for people working in the voluntary and civil society sector and will cover:

  • who we are and what the Ombudsman does
  • what barriers people can face when making a complaint
  • how advocacy works and how it can support your community and the people who use your service
  • how we can support your work

Due to resources we do not have the capacity to offer this to private individuals and those not-working in the VCSE/Charity/Advocacy sector. For guidance about making a complaint and our work at PHSO, please go to our website www.ombudsman.org.uk

Are these sessions interactive, can I ask questions?

Yes! We like people to get involved and we do this by using polls, word clouds and the chat function on Microsoft Teams. We encourage people to ask questions, we cannot discuss specific cases, but we can offer general advice and signpost people.

I work in advocacy, can I attend this session?

These workshops are specifically for people in VCSE/Charity sectors but we do run our complaint champion advocacy workshops alongside these. Our advocacy version of complaint champions is designed specifically for those providing statutory advocacy for service users with an NHS or Parliamentary complaint.

If you click on our Eventbrite profile you will be able to see the workshops we have coming up.

Organised by

We independently investigate complaints about UK government departments, other public organisations and the NHS in England. We believe complaints have the power to reveal the truth, create lasting change and inspire a better relationship between people and public services. Our service is free, fair and open to everyone.
