Complimentary SIMS Overview - Tuesday 12th June 2018 (Primary schools 10:00-11:45 and Secondary schools 13:00-15:00)

Following on from the successful sessions across our training facilities in previous years, we are offering school leaders another opportunity to attend and find out how SIMS can be maximised.

We hold SIMS Overview sessions throughout the year as we have found that many schools are not aware of the full capabilities of the system. This can lead schools into unnecessary expenditure. The sessions - one for primary schools and one for secondary schools - demonstrate how SIMS can be applied to support school improvement by showing its full capabilities and hopefully some ways of reducing costs overall.

The content is designed to be beneficial to schools that currently use SIMS and also those schools who may be considering migrating to SIMS in future.

Delivered by Seymour Leeds - SIMS Consultant

Seymour has worked as an educational consultant since 2002. He has run training courses, provided consultancy in schools and delivered presentations to a range of audiences. He has delivered electives for Capita at their annual conferences and been involved in assessment seminars... Read more.

We are delivering two sessions on Tuesday 12th June 2018:

Session content:

Making the most of SIMS for Headteachers by:

  • Using the School report for a quick school overview
  • Using SIMS reports to analyse KS2 KS1 and EYFS results by Key Pastoral Indicators
  • Rapid lookup of student details
  • Customising the Homepage to give information at a glance

Improving the efficient use of SIMS by:

  • Recording contact with parent by phone or meeting in SIMS
  • Showing the scope of the assessment packages
  • How a class teacher can use a marksheeet to inform class progress in Key pastoral areas
  • Discussing the uses of SIMS Interventions
  • Showing how the SIMS Staff Performance module works

Session content:

  • Examining the factors affecting the amount of money required to deliver the curriculum
  • The discussion will use curriculum models and reports from timetable packages to look at items such as average class sizes and contact ratios
  • Brief and relatable school case study examples will be referred throughout the session to illustrate the key points
  • How SIMS Interventions, staff performance, assessment and exams analysis can help to inform financial decisions

Refreshments will be available 30 minutes prior to the start of the session to allow time for networking, and the sessions are ideal opportunities to discuss any queries with the SBS MIS team.

By the end of the session you will have a clear understanding of:

- The very latest developments in SIMS

- How SIMS can be adapted to support school improvement

- The types of report SIMS can produce for governors, Ofsted and other stakeholders

- How to streamline your use of SIMS to reduce unneccessary duplication of entries and thus workload.

- The latest Capita advice on GDPR

SBS School Business Network - Tuesday 12th June 2018 (15:30-17:00)

Following our SIMS Overview sessions is our final network session of the academic year.

We began this network as School Business Managers had expressed a desire to meet to establish a strong supportive network locally where they can discuss current issues, share best-practice, and offer an understanding ear for the unique challenges that they face in their diverse and ever-changing roles.

Never fear if you didn't attend our previous date. Each session has a self-contained structure and agenda, designed to provide insight, topical debates so that our delegates will leave information to apply in their day-to-day roles.

Refreshments and pastries will be provided!
