COMPOSITIONAL STRUCTURES: Roads
Live Online Class: Tuesday 5th August 2025 6pm BST

Taught by Lucy McGeown
Join Lucy to look at this theme of roads which opens up many interpretations, styles, genres and decades of artmaking, expect a fun class that will teach how to dissect images to see the compositional structures holding them together, as well as learn to love the humble road!
Roads are what connect people from place to place, they are the lines drawn on the land from feet and transport and they are the vital link between things, they are the very real connectors between communities and a neccessity to human existence.
They stretch across the distance, bend round corners unseen, infer the anticipation of someones arrival or optimism of a new future on the horizon. They can symbolise the spiritual connection to other worlds, direct people towards a realm of hope or simply imply the distance bewtween things and how people pass through landscapes. They are symbols of longing, optimism and wanderlust and social connection and purpose.
They seem simple but as roads have grown they have cut through landscapes in more brutal and extraordinary ways, the lines they create across landscapes are ever more wild and appealing to the artist eye - always ripe for framing and anchoring all kinds of narrative on.

ARE YOU TRYING TO BOOK VIA THE EVENTBRITE PHONE APP?!
We have been in touch with Eventbrite, and they have informed us that currently you cannot book tickets to online events in their app. It's very frustrating and we have been assured they are working on a solution. In the meantime, we recommend that you book tickets to our events outside of the iOS app - either via a web browser or a desktop. If you book our classes regularly we recommend deleting the eventbrite App.
IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS OR QUESTIONS PLEASE EMAIL :
And that's it!
We're really looking forward to you joining us.
