About this event

🌿 Composting for your Soul: Shedding, Seeding and Sacred Rot

A Day of connecting with Autumns’ rhythm: slowing, releasing and tending the shoots of what’s yet to come.

🕕 Sunday 28th September | 9-30am–4-30pm

📍 Longbarn, Burley (New Forest)

Maximum 8 participants

Join this workshop for a soulfully curated day of surrender, guided by the wisdom of Autumn and the wild edges of the land. This is a space to shed what no longer serves, seed what longs to emerge, and compost the stories and survival strategies that have run their course.

This workshop will allow you to slow and connect to your inner wisdom, to wriggle like a worm into the dark. It can be scary to take time to delve around in that which will we usually keep buried. Together we’ll follow the sacred rhythms of the season—welcoming death not as an end, but as an initiation into fertile becoming.

This is for you if you’re sensing:

  • Something in you is breaking down—and might be feeding something new
  • Grief, fatigue, or old identities are ready to return to the earth
  • A deeper rooting is calling
  • You’re longing for a ritual container to reflect, release, and reweave yourself

Through a blend of somatic movement, earth-based ritual, and quiet communion with the more-than-human world and ourselves, we’ll tend to questions like:

  • What is asking to be laid down?
  • What is already decomposing in you that might nourish what you cannot yet name?
  • What sprouts are stirring beneath the mulch?

When we walk into the fertile shadows and trust the land to hold what we cannot, something ancient reawakens. You only have to see the tree growing sideways towards the light to know the possibility of adaptation, the resilience within the roots. We are part of this, not separate and the same wild possibilities live in us – if we let them.

🌬️ What to Expect:

  • Dream matrix to weave a collective intention.
  • Wild ‘sit spot’ time in nature, being in silence to hear the messages of the soil, the trees, the wind, the stone and more than human.
  • Rituals of burial and becoming with embodied gestures to release, grieve and plan new possibilities.
  • Moments of soulful reflection, journaling, and quiet witnessing by our group.
  • Firelight and grounding rituals to close the circle in warmth and community
  • Homemade vegan soup and sweet nourishment.

Come as you are knowing that all that you bring is decompostable and that the old feeds the new. Leave with more space in your body, knowing the support of the land beneath your feet, and a sense of being deeply rooted in your wild self.

This offering is limited to 8 participants to support a spacious and held container. We will move slowly, gently, and with care for whatever is emerging in the compost heap of each soul. Nothing here needs to be polished. Everything is welcome.

Please be aware we will be outside for much of the day and you will need warm, waterproof clothing and suitable footwear.

Frequently asked questions

Where in Burley is this taking place?

We will be at Longbarn Burley, which is a beautiful calm space set in a large wild garden with direct access to the forest. Access is down a long stony track and full directions will be sent ahead of our time together. There is parking available at the property.

Will we be outside even if it's raining?

We will try to make the most of the natural world around us although no one wants to end up absolutely soaking through. I'm hoping the weather will work with us on the day. Do bring warm and waterproof gear and suitable footwear, just in case.

I haven't done anything like this before and am not sure what to expect?

This space is for you to be with your own process and pace. There are no expectations. Paying attention to what feels right for you on the day will be important. Feel free to reach out and email me, if I can help further, at contact@lucyfurniss.co.uk

Organized by

As an experienced Gestalt Psychotherapist and Wild Therapist, I am all about helping you to expand into living a peaceful, joyful and rich life.

As children we have a wonder of life, a strong connection to the earth, animals and plants. This roots us to something bigger than ourselves and to something we are part of. This provides a solid foundation and support from which to grow, just like it does in nature. Seasons and cycles of death and regeneration are accepted and valued. We see ourselves as a collective rather than individual, working for the good of all.

I am passionate about helping you to find your Inner Wild. For me, this is the inner spirit which we often lose after experiences, losses, relationships and societal/cultural influences throughout life. Working outdoors and being with, among and part of the nature world is important to me both personally and professionally.
