COURSE DESCRIPTION

Every year, thousands of new professionals embark on jobs in software development with little or no formal qualification. Many others in fields like science, engineering, or medicine find themselves in careers where developing computer-based solutions is an essential part of their work. If you’re one of these people, this course will make you feel prepared and confident for what lies ahead and give you the grounding needed to feel positive about writing software.

Many others in fields like science, engineering, or medicine find themselves in careers where developing computer-based solutions is an essential part of their work. If you’re one of these people, this course will make you feel prepared and confident for what lies ahead and give you the grounding needed to feel positive about writing software. You will learn computational thinking, an approach to analysing problems and developing computer-based solutions.

Computational thinking is a skill that is relevant not only to new software professionals but is transferable across domains as diverse as natural science, law, engineering and the social sciences. Computational thinking takes a small handful of core topics from computer science and teaches them as practical, widely applicable problem-solving skills.
