This session will provide an overview of assistive technologies for computer access for users with disabilities. It will provide participants with a detailed understanding of the range of computer access options available and discuss key factors in supporting individuals in their use.
This session is aimed at Occupational Therapists and other professionals with a remit, specialism or special interest in EC and computer access.
It will include case presentations and an opportunity for participants to discuss clients they are involved with (please bring along any cases you would like support with).
- To provide an overview of computer access methods including hardware and software for Windows, Android and iOS devices
- To provide an overview of theoretical models of EC, AT and decision making
- To give participants a basis for understanding the decision making process related to computer access assistive technologies provision
- To enable participants to support individuals using computer access assistive technologies
Level: Specialist- These courses are aimed at those who work with AAC/EC on a regular basis and have several years experience.
Participants are assumed to have a good prior knowledge of AAC terminology as well as a range of AAC/EC assessments, hardware and software. Participants will likely have some or sole responsibility for AAC/EC provision as apart of their job role.
