Event Details

In this talk, Ian Cottam will give a personal perspective of the use and impact of the Condor (High Throughput Computing) system at The University of Manchester.

Ian will touch on the history of Condor Pools at Manchester, the status quo and what may be to come.

Condor (for legal reasons now formally known as HTCondor) is a free and open source system provided by the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Ian included Condor's developers in a blog on my personal heroes of softwareengineering -- written for the Software Sustainability Institute -- and seminar attendees may care to read that short article here:

Ian will also address other ways Condor can be configured, in some cases using other UK universities as examples, and the many possibilities one can choose from if setting up a new Condor Pool installation.
