Event Details

Andover and Salisbury Group

Event begins promptly in the Marlborough Room at 6.30 pm, finishing around 8.30 pm

This event will be preceded by the Andover and Salisbury Group Annual Meeting.  Refreshments available at 5.30 pm, with the Meeting taking place between 6 pm and 6.30 pm.  Participants can attend the Meeting and this event, or just the Annual Meeting/the event.  Please also book separately for the Meeting if you wish to attend both.

During this session, Alison Bennett and Sarah Crayford Brown - the Conflict Masters Partners - will explore the role of the investigator.  The session will be interactive, with the use of actors to create a safe learning environment.  By means of realistic scenarios, they will address the following:

  • What sits within the employer's remit to investigate
  • The boundaries and no-go areas
  • How to approach an investigation
  • Interviewing the employee(s) under investigation
  • Other employees who might be potential witnesses and their rights (eg do they have the right to refuse to give evidence?  If so, what can the employer do?)
  • The interview process itself
  • What if other non-work related offences come to the fore?  What action is the employer required to take?

Join this session to explore these and many more questions that will no doubt arise during what promises to be a thought-provoking evening.

As a result of attending, you will:

  • Be clear about the purpose of conducting an investigation
  • Be aware of no-go areas
  • Know how to deal with reportable information that emerges as part of an investigation
  • Have strategies for handling unco-operative employees

Our speakers

Conflict Masters was founded by Sarah Crayford Brown and Alison Bennett in response to a growing need from organisations to find effective solutions to conflict within the workplace.  If you have experienced conflict within your organisation you will recognise how quickly it can consume time, energy and resources and impact on productivity.
As a lawyer, mediator and coach Sarah combined her skills with Alison, an HR professional and executive coach.  Together they offer companies their expertise together with many years of practical experience.
Conflict Masters has a reputation for quality, integrity and innovation resulting from many years of building relationships with their clients based on trust and mutual respect.  Their collaborative, fresh and determined approach enables them to provide valuable strategic insights and direction to find the best solutions to even the most complex problems.
