The theme of this conference is IMPROVING OUTCOMES and the aim of the day is to look at INTERVENTION, TRAINING AND EDUCATION.

Controlling and coercive behaviour in an intimate or family relationship has been a criminal offence since Dec 2015 but there is still some way to go before coercive control is properly understood, identified, evidenced and prosecuted.

To quote from the recent Domestic Homicide Review by Safer Lincolnshire Partnership into the deaths of Claire and Charlotte Hart:

"Most of the general public are not familiar with this form of DA and are unable to recognise it if their family, friends or work colleagues are subjected to it. There needs to be a co-ordinated awareness raising campaign particularly involving professional agencies, including medical General Practitioners and in Schools where such disclosures may be made."
