Description

The broken promise of social mobility for young Muslims

Emerging findings from new research commissioned by the Social Mobility Commission

SHU & SMC

Researchers at Sheffield Hallam University, supported by academics, policy makers, educators and young Muslims from across the UK, have conducted research designed to help understand why educational gains are not translating into employment gains for young Muslims. At this one-day (cost free) event we will share findings from the research, gain your feedback and comments on the findings, and listen to the views of young Muslims moving from education to employment. The workshops are designed to explore key findings in detail; the 'jury' allows for young Muslims to give their own perception on the findings and how these relate to their own experiences.

The event will be of interest to academics, policy makers, those working with Muslim communities and young Muslims themselves.

Note: Formative findings from the project are subject to strict embargo until the publication of the final report. For this reason, the findings and any comments at the event must not be shared publicly until the report is published.
