Why are we doing this? Building on our July workshop, we now invite you to an action planning Conference for leaders from commmunity groups and key representatives from universities to further explore the actions needed to enable working together.

At Just Space, we place particular emphasis on the unsung contribution of small grassroots community groups, who bring positive change, power, pressure and opportunity to tackle the key challenges in local areas of London.

What will we do? At the Conference we will be sharing good practice from community group and university collaborations that highlight Real Life Case Studies in:

• The Value of Community Spaces: an opportunity to join forces

• Bio-digestion: engaging local communities with human-scale technology

• Creative Community Projects in Universities

• Learning in the Community – an exchange of expertise, skills and support

The main aim is to share key aspects that paved the way for successful engagement; high quality collaboration; approaches to sustaining communication, and with hindsight, any lessons learned.

Advice Surgeries: We will be creating opportunities for Advice Surgeries to enable university staff and community groups to share ideas and plans for collaboration.

Panel Discussion: A panel of leadership and expertise from Universities and Community Groups will debate some of the key challenges facing us.

Workshops: This will be followed by workshops focused on:

• Workshop 1: De-colonisation of universities

• Workshop 2: A fresh look at community economic and industrial strategies

• Workshop 3: The battle for community spaces

• Workshop 4: A transformative strategy for community & university collaboration

We will conclude with a summary and networking.

Please share with colleagues, particularly those from small grassroots community groups and University colleagues.
