Description

This is a free workshop is aimed at volunteers, community workers and creatives connected in some way to North Manchester.

A bit about this workshop:

This workshop will support you to tap into, cultivate and maintain your connection to your limitless source of creativity. Giving you tools and encouragement to develop your confidence in your authentic self and your ability to create innovative and unique work.

Grow and maintain your confidence to inspire others.

This workshop uses interactive activities, sharing knowledge as a group, and practical techniques.

This workshop is led by Natasha Boojihawon from Earth Clinic - part of Union Street Media Arts. Their mission at Earth Clinic is to support journeys of self-leadership and empowerment.

A bit about Natasha:

"I've set up 2 social enterprises in the last 5 years and worked with a variety of groups and people; produced and directed over 50 short documentaries and films achieving 9 broadcast credits on UK TV. I've managed over 20 social development and participatory arts projects in the last 5 years that have had an impact on hundreds of people in big and small ways.

My passions are many; film and arts for action, food and nutrition, coaching and leadership, energy healing and a natural way of living.

I'm really looking forward to working with community members and creatives as part of the #McrCreativeSpaces initiative"

A bit about the #McrCreativeSpaces initiative:

In 2018, three Manchester Libraries will become Creative Spaces for their communities. Local residents will enjoy great art, create vibrant cultural activities, and access more of what our amazing city has to offer!

Early next year, Platform Mcr will help to develop skills, networks and inclusivity in the three areas through a programme of free training sessions open to community workers, volunteers and creatives.

We will be supporting on some exciting cultural events in the new year, including bringing the fantastic Illuminate, from the world-renown dance company Company Chameleon, into the Creative Spaces.

We will be hosting THIS VIBRANT THING. in March 2018 in each of our three Creative Spaces. It will be a multi-arts spectacular, celebrating the vibrancy of creativity and community, and will shift people’s perceptions of what Libraries can do. It's not just about books anymore!

We will also be running a series of community arts projects in the three areas, working with community organisations - empowering through art and widening participation.

We believe in the power of art. Arts activities empower community members to help shape their city. Sharing culture and creativity helps us to get to know ourselves and each other better, building stronger communities.
