Confidence to Grow - Meet entrepreneurs & help them grow their businesses?
Event Information
About this event
Would you like to extend your mentoring? Meet entrepreneurs and help them grow their businesses? Gain useful experience for non-executive director roles?
We are running a 3-month project supported by Leeds City Council and Lean-In Leeds for entrepreneur startups which are keen to grow but need mentor* support and experience.
Over the three months this project, Confidence to Grow, will help entrepreneurs to:
- Drive growth and implement strategy through a well-functioning board in a sustainable way
- To prepare for running formal board meetings including the importance of the agenda, board makeup, format, action points, and then practice with two formal board meetings
- Compare the options available for raising finance and the different types of finance
- Improve their leadership skills for building and growing their business
- Understand their duties and responsibilities as a director and adopt good practices’
- Know what to look out for and the risks involved in contracts and agreements with customers and shareholders
- Negotiate and understand what to expect from professional services including legal, accountancy, brokers, funders, mentors
- Build their appreciation of the importance of personal role development, mentoring and learning how best to add value and how to assess whether or not the entrepreneur will make best use of your time. Dispel the myth that you are too small for a NED
- Build your network of peer-to-peer support
We are bringing together experts, business leaders, non-executive directors and mentors in a lively full-day workshop in Leeds City Centre on Tuesday, 25 January 2022 to share tips and insights. Join us and mentor an entrepreneur working through the toolkit to prepare them to be growth ready, board ready and funding ready.
We are looking for mentors* who have held a senior position in business and are probably no longer working full time.
You don’t have to be expert in all these areas – there will be training on the initial day and the mentors can help each other, sharing expertise.
Thanks to Walker Morris for providing a venue for this event.
