Event description

Description

This conference, especially for Childminders provides training opportunities throughout the day, including an unrivalled range of workshops aimed at giving you the expertise you need to support communication development in the early years.

We are pleased to feature Mine Conkbayir, who will deliver your first workshop. Mine is an Early Years author, consultant and speaker. Her book ‘Early Childhood Theories and Contemporary Issues’ provides a good overview of child development theories and how these translate into practice, which can make a positive difference to how we understand babies and children and the ways in which we can help them to learn.

You can choose two further workshops to attend, which are designed for Childminders, making this an unmissable opportunity for you to boost your knowledge and skills within communication development.

Workshop 1 (AM, 09:50 - 10:30) Delivered by Mine Conkbayir for all attendees - Building Brains through Serve and Return

Serve and return is a critical component of human relationships. It builds healthy brains. But what does it actually involve? What happens when a child is not given the necessary opportunities to engage in these reciprocal interactions in the short and long term? Come along to find out.

Workshop 2 (AM, 11:00 to 12:00) - Choose from:

  • An Introduction to Makaton (STEP Consultancy)

  • Autistic Spectrum Disorders in the Early Years - More than Words (University of Chichester)

  • Talking is Child’s Play - an introduction (SALT)

  • It’s Amazing How I Think – The Adult Role in Sustained Shared Thinking (Enable Children)
