Please Note - FREE for Health and Social Care professionals, workplaces or people working in a suitable voluntary role within Tameside only.

Poor mental health and wellbeing can often be a barrier to people leading a full and healthy life impacting on a person’s potential to feel good, live well, work well, develop healthy relationships and get on and enjoy life.

Connect 5 is a mental health promotion training programme that is designed to increase the confidence and skills of front line staff so that they can be more effective in having conversations with the people they work with about mental health and wellbeing, help people to manage mental health problems and increase their resilience and mental wellbeing through positive changes.

Connect 5 is a training programme with three levels and participants progress though stages, dependent on how much of their role involves working with people experiencing poor mental wellbeing.

Connect5 session 1 brief mental health and wellbeing advice (1/2 day 3.5hours):

Aims to raise participant’s awareness of the essential part they can play in supporting the mental health and wellbeing within their everyday practice.

Connect 5 session 2 brief mental health and wellbeing intervention (full day)

Aims to develop participant’s skills and confidence to recognise mental health and wellbeing needs and to make effective interventions to improve mental health and wellbeing.

Connect 5 session 3 extended mental health and wellbeing intervention (full day)

Aims to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary for participants to use a range of strategies and interventions which effectively support people their work with to take positive steps to improve their mental wellbeing
