About this event

Duration: 3.5 Hours

Virtual Platform: Zoom

What is Connect 5?

  • Connect 5 is an evidence-based training programme designed to promote mental health by changing the way we have conversations about mental wellbeing.
  • It is comprised of three modules, each incremental in terms of skill development. Participants can attend 1, 2 or all 3 modules, but they must be completed in order (starting with Module 1).

What does Module 2 cover?

  • How to use the 5 Areas Model to provide a brief, structured intervention to help a person understand their feelings and what they can do to feel better.
  • How to identify when a person needs more than self-help (including having thoughts of suicide).

Am I eligible for this course?

  • This is a follow-on course; Module 1 must be completed before Module 2 can be attended.
  • This course is only available to those aged 16 or above who are currently living, working and/or studying in Devon, Plymouth or Torbay.
  • Participants will need to access the course via Zoom on a device with a working microphone and camera. To ensure the wellbeing of everyone attending, all participants will be required to keep their camera on for the duration of the training.

What happens next?

  • After booking your ticket, a place on the course will be reserved for you and you will receive a confirmation email from Eventbrite allowing you to add the event to your electronic calendar.
  • The day before your course, you will receive an email from training@petesdragons.org.uk containing the course workbook and Zoom link for your session. If you would benefit from receiving this email earlier, please let us know.

What if I can no longer attend?

  • If you are no longer able to attend the training, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can try to offer your space to someone else.
  • This course has been kindly funded by Public Health Devon but does require a minimum number of participants attending on the day for it to proceed. ‘No shows’ can result in courses having to be cancelled without warning, wasting other participants time and vital public funds, so we really appreciate any notice you can give us.
  • You can cancel your place by contacting us on 01395 277780 or training@petesdragons.org.uk. Alternatively, your order confirmation email from Eventbrite will contain a link to view and manage your booking directly.
