CONNECT: THE AUDIENCE AS ARTIST
Sat 22 October 2016, 19:30 – 21:00 BST
TAKE PART IN TWO WORLD PREMIERES
Two ground-breaking commissions by Christian Mason and Huang Ruo give you the chance to perform world premieres with the London Sinfonietta.
No musical experience is needed: glass bottles, Chinese baoding balls, tin foil, mouth organs and whispers will be your instruments.
Christian Mason’s In the Midst of Sonorous Islands will take you on a sonic adventure, making metallic and blown sounds that mirror the percussion played by London Sinfonietta on stage.
Huang Ruo’s The Sonic Great Wall meditates on the Great Wall of China: surround yourself with whispered words evoking the myths of those spirits that protect it.

MORE ABOUT CONNECT
CONNECT redefines the relationship between composer, musicians and audience. T give you the chance to become part of their sound world, transforming the concert hall into an immersive, creative new space.
After the world premieres in London these works will be shared by an international community, with performances in Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Porto through autumn 2016.
An initiative generously supported by ART MENTOR FOUNDATION LUCERNE in collaboration with London Sinfonietta, Ensemble Modern, Asko|Schönberg and Remix Ensemble Casa da Música.
The performance is preceded by a day-long conference exploring how new music can engage an ever-wider audience: http://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/whatson/connect-the-audience-as-artis-97789
