Event description

Description

Social Prescribing is a way to help improve people’s health and wellbeing by linking an individual to a range of non-medical community activities and organisations. The individual can then access a variety of services, such as advice and information services, community groups, leisure activities, lunch clubs, self-help groups, specialist interest groups, sporting activities, and lots more.

For social prescribing to be successful, there needs to be collaboration between health professionals, statutory organisations and local voluntary and community organisations (VSCOs). By working together across Kingston we can identify any gaps in local provision and, ideally, through collaborative codesign, work towards providing a comprehensive range of services which address issues such as isolation and poor mental wellbeing that can have a real impact on an individual’s physical, social and mental health and well-being.

This event will be an exciting opportunity for key, local stakeholders to find out more about social prescribing and its importance and how it can be developed together across Kingston.

This event is for the stakeholder organisations (statutory and voluntary) working in the Borough of Kingston supporting local residents to improve their health and well-being who would like to be involved in collaboratively developing this local social prescribing model.
