Event description

Description

Morteza Lahijanian – Oxford University
Kate Carpenter – Jacobs

Can we trust self-driving vehicles ? How do we program them to make moral decisions? Self-driving cars and trucks have the potential to be the next revolution in transport, but have been represented in the media as potentially being unsafe. Come to this event to get an overview of the pros and cons of connected and autonomous vehicles from a safety and reliability perspective.

What hazards are present, and what benefits might be realised from their use? Prepare to have your assumptions challenged (e.g. did you know that mobile use is less risky on bendy rural roads than on motorways?) and learn about the risks associated with current and future highway scenarios.

Meetings are open to all, you do not need to be a member of SaRS to attend.
