Connected Communities - Free crowdfunding workshops

Crowdfunder UK and Trust for London invite you to book here to join their ‘Connected Communities: Barking & Dagenham’ workshops and apply to win £1,000 for your local project. Simply attend the workshop, meet the Crowdfunder team and receive advice on your 100 word application. Five projects will be selected in Barking & Dagenham for the £1k funding.


Five projects will be chosen after a 100-word application is received.


Workshop times


Crowdfunding for funders and stakeholders: 12.30-13.30


Examples of how different funders are using matched crowdfunding to support projects and communities. Find out how matched crowdfunding:

  • Engages communities
  • Leverages additional funding
  • Builds skills and capacity amongst VCSE groups


Who's it for?

Local Council staff and members, CVS staff and volunteers, Housing Associations, Community Foundations, other local funders.



Crowdfunding for your community project: 14.00-16.00


This is an introductory session is suitable for anyone who wants to find out more about crowdfunding for local projects. If you're a charity, communoty group or social enterprise - come along and hear from the experts!

Topics to be covered:

  • What is crowdfunding?
  • What are the benefits of crowdfunding?
  • What makes a good crowdfunding project?
  • How to get started and the three steps to success
  • Accessing advice and support

Who's it for?

Local charities, community groups, social enterprises, businesses. Anyone with an idea for a project that matters in Barking & Dagenham.


These workshops are part of The ‘Connected Communities: Barking & Dagenham’ competition to find organisations that are making a difference in your community.

Each of the five successful projects will receive an additional £1,000 worth of extra funding towards a Crowdfunder campaign, support and mentoring to create their Crowdfunder.

The campaign opens for entries on Monday 22nd July, with entries closing the following Monday 29th July at midday. The successful applicants will be announced on Friday 2nd August.

To be in with a chance of receiving the £1,000 prize pledge entrants should book onto the local Barking & Dagenham workshop.
