Description

CAFOD is offering new, free CPD supported by the British Council’s Connecting Classrooms through Global Learning.

This course is suitable for both primary and secondary teachers and leaders, as well as all schoool staff.

Connecting to the world: successful school linking, aims to:

  • Explore key principles for setting up and sustaining a mutually beneficial international school partnership

  • Inspired by CAFOD's model of partnership working

Are you thinking about setting up a partnership with a school overseas? This course will help you explore key principles for setting up and sustaining a mutually beneficial international school partnership, drawing on our Catholic overseas development experience of challenges and methodologies required in working with communities to ensure that partnership is truly equitable. We will cover how a partnership can reflect your school’s ethos and values and help embed global learning throughout the school. This course will also provide opportunities to identify means of deepening participation as active global citizens in order to move from a charity to a justice mentality.

As well as the day’s training, we will provide ongoing online and offline support to help you implement the learning from the day into the life of your school. There will then be a one-hour twilight seminar (date and time to be arranged in conversation with the participants, approximately 6 weeks later) so you can share ideas and feedback on the tools and strategies you have implemented.

Connecting Classrooms through Global Learning supports teachers and school leaders to improve teaching, giving students the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to make a positive contribution now and in the future. Through connections with other schools, professional development for teachers and engaging learning resources, Connecting Classrooms helps develop students equipped to live and work in a globalised world.
