About this event

In today’s increasingly atomised and virtual world, Buddhist teachings on community and real connection are more relevant than ever as a condition for a happier and more fulfilling way of life! We’ll spend six weeks (Tuesday 9 September to Tuesday 14 October) exploring some of those teachings together. The course will include input, discussion and meditation. Also included is a day retreat on Sunday 19 October.

To book your place we require a £5 non-refundable booking deposit, and you will be invited to donate what you can on top of this, at the centre via cash or card in our bookshop. If the £5 booking fee is not affordable for you, please contact coordinator@shrewsburybuddhistcentre.co.uk to book your place.

Open to anyone who is 35 or younger.

Frequently asked questions

Is there parking near the centre?

Parking is a bit tricky as we're in a residential area and generally try not to annoy our neighbours by taking their spaces! But there is generally parking available in the little Morrisons car park, by the weir and on New Park Street.

Do I have to attend all six sessions to be able to take part?

No. We appreciate that people have busy lives and things sometimes come up. But we would strongly recommend attending at least four of the sessions if you can't make all six.

Is there a set fee?

Aside from the £5 booking fee, what you pay is entirely up to you. We don't want anyone to miss out because they're struggling for money. That being said, the centre runs entirely on the generosity of the people who attend, so feel free to give if you can. A suggested amount would be £10 per evening

Do I have to book, or can I just turn up on the day?

It will be helpful to know in advance who's coming so that we can plan accordingly. But if you feel moved to come on 9 September and haven't booked, you'll be very welcome.

Why is there an age restriction for this course?

We're offering the course for people aged between 18 and 35. This is because we think young people are faced with particular challenges and have a particular experience that may not be shared by older participants.
