About this event
- Event lasts 2 hours
A 2-Hour Practical Taster Workshop
Are you curious about Sociocracy and consent-based decision-making? Heard of the terms, and know that decision making you exeprience isn't always the most effective? Don't know enough about what it actually is to decide whether to invest your time in learning it or not? This taster session is for you!
Join me for this hands-on 2-hour taster where you'll experience consent-based decision-making – one of the core principles of Sociocracy – and discover whether this approach could work for you and your teams.
What You'll Experience
In this session, you'll:
- Experience the consent process through practical exercises in an online group setting
- Learn the difference between preferences and critical concerns
- Understand how "good enough for now" solutions work
- Try out inclusive decision-making that ensures every voice is heard
- Leave with more understanding about whether this approach might suit your needs
- Connection with others who are curious about decision-making
As this is a taster it will be focussed on the process of decision-making in-person (or online) only, if you want to understand more about the different contexts it can work in and how to implement, come along to our full day session on 22nd October.
What Is Consent-Based Decision Making?
This approach offers a different way for teams to make decisions by:
- Promoting practical and realistic steps towards a shared goal – finding common ground through "good enough for now" solutions
- Balancing power – deliberate sharing of inputs across the team and clear invitations to contribute from all
- Including diverse voices – ensuring nobody gets ignored and louder voices are balanced
Who Should Attend?
Perfect for managers, team leaders, agile practitioners, consultants, freelancers working in org development and anyone interested in more effective and equitable ways of organising and making decisions.

Frequently asked questions
No, this taster session is focussed on the practical decision making process only, there will be a short time for questions and answers but not enough to look into the detail on how you might start to bring Sociocracy and consent into your organisation. We can help you with that though!
Not in this taster session - this is solely focussed on experienced the practical steps you go through to make a consent based decision with a group of people. We can support you in working out how to structure your organisation using circles - reach out for a chat.
