Event description

Description

The right grazing animals in the right place can deliver huge benefits to wildlife, they can also cause upset amongst visitors to our popular outdoors sites.

This study day looks at the work we have done at Lyme to increase the number of cattle grazing our upland habitats and also what we have done to change people’s perceptions of grazing animals. Working closely with our grazier we have now got the right breed with the perfect temperament in the right quantity, this is now beginning to deliver for wildlife.

We will spend a short amount of time indoors looking at some of the issues we have faced and giving attendees an overview of the site.

Then we will head out to see the areas being grazed, discuss different challenges and ways of overcoming them and hopefully see some of the cattle, the grazier will hopefully be on site to explain how this arrangement works from his point of view too.

Tea and coffee will be provided, please bring a packed lunch.

CMA members/National Trust - Free; Non-members - £40
