Description
We have great pleasure in announcing that the Hallam Centre for International Justice at Sheffield Hallam University has completed the evaluation of Addaction's innovative Right Turn veteran-specific recovery project, funded by the Forces in Mind Trust.”
We will be holding a half day symposium on 22nd June here at Sheffield Hallam University, in partnership with Addaction and the Forces in Mind Trust, where we will talk about the report and its findings
Debating and contextualising these findings is extremely timely, given that next year marks the 10 year anniversary of National Association of Probation Officers that initially identified over 20,000 veterans in the UK criminal justice system. Whilst these figures have subsequently been contested, this report marked the start of what was to become a decade of research and policy discourse both investigating and attempting to identify the most effective models of support to address the issues faced by UK military veterans.
Attendees will hear up-to-date perspectives around designing services to both recruit from this often hard-to-reach cohort, and retain their engagement in care pathways to ensure beneficial outcomes for all.
We have a wonderful line up of speakers as well as a scheduled session to hear from the real experts - military veterans - who have accessed veteran-specific projects. It would be good to see you there if you are able to come. This event is free to attend, but please do register your attendance so we can manage space and refreshment orders most effectively.
Should you have any questions or queries regarding attending the event or accessing the Event Bright page, please contact Simon Nolan at s.nolan@shu.ac.uk
We look forward to hosting you all at Sheffield Hallam on the 22nd June.
Regards
Dr Katherine Albertson, the Helena Kennedy Centre for International Justice team
