Description

The landscpe artist John Constable started rented houses in Hampstead in 1819 making it his permanent family home in 1827. Discover the picturesque 18th century and Regency Hampstead that Constable was familiar with, where he lived, the houses and landscapes he painted, as well as his family tomb. This talk is illustrated with pictures and his frank quotes from his letters to his friends about his art and feelings for Hampstead and his family as well as some reflections by his biographer, C.R. Leslie.
