You will be able to discuss the issues surrounding the Construction Industry Domestic Reverse Charge which comes into effect on 01/10/2020. This is a major change to the way VAT is collected in the construction industry. If you are unsure what this means for you or how to deal with this within your accounting system come and talk to our VAT specialist on our technology stand.

The XERO team will demonstrate Xero along with related apps that can save you time and help you get paid faster. They will be able to answer any questions you have and if you are not familiar with it, give you a quick tour of the features and benefits.

Wilkin Chapman LLP is the largest law firm in Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire. We provide a wide range of legal services for both businesses and individuals. Relating to the construction industry we have recently received an influx of queries surrounding the new IR35 “off-payroll working rules” legislation due to impact the private sector in April 2020. These rules govern the obligations between end-user clients and individuals who are engaged by those businesses to provide services and do so through an intermediary (often their own personal service Company). This is a common arrangement in the construction sector, where contractors are often engaged by companies to assist on certain projects and therefore must be aware of the IR35 impact and tax implications.

Barclays has seen a rise in sophisticated fraud with criminals targeting SMEs. This includes using “social engineering” with emails or phone calls impersonating people such as suppliers, staff members or even the CEO, tricking victims into giving out information or making payments. Barclays has stepped up its mission to educate customers, including SMEs, about the growing risks of fraud and cybercrime, investing heavily in its national Digisafe campaign, which has already engaged five million people.

Simons Design, a local RIBA chartered architectural practice, will be on hand to provide architectural advice and expertise. Simons operates across all sectors of the industry; as well as having specialist knowledge in both construction health & safety and BREEAM / sustainable design solutions.

We look forward to seeing you at this event.
