Construction Voice: Viability and the barriers to progress
Wednesday 5 April, 16:45 - 18:30
The stagnation of major projects in Brighton & Hove has been a continuous issue for developers, businesses and residents alike. However, in a city with house prices 35% above the previous high in 2007, and a rise in office rents for the same period at approximately 30%, questions arise as to why this is the case?
This event looks to explore the issues of cost inflation, a shortage of sites, disconnect in public opinion, the influence of planning policies, Brexit and the wider economy revolving around the important case of viability and why it matters so much when it comes to development.
Most importantly, the event will seek to set out solutions in response to these issues, that can be implemented by the city as a whole, to help to break down these barriers to progress.
Our expert panel includes:
- Andy Winter, Chief Executive of Brighton Housing Trust
- Nick Hibberd, Executive Director of Economy, Environment & Culture at Brighton & Hove City Council
- Olaide Oboh, Head of Marketing and Communications at First Base
- Steve Skuse, New Business Director at Willmott Partnership Homes
Our chair is Steve Bustin
