Are you curious to understand how traditional buildings differ from modern buildings?

CITB NI is working in partnership with the Historic Environment Division, Department for Communities, to facilitate a free half day seminar for those interested in furthering their knowledge of current best practice  on approaching work in heritage buildings - both designated and non-designated.

Who should attend?

This seminar will be of interest to the general construction industry, both on site and office based, together with the staff involved in the training of students and apprentices in the construction sector.

Speaker Profile:


Professor John Edwards MA, DipBldgCons, CEnv, FCIOB, FRICS, IHBC


John is Director of Edwards Hart Consultants where he leads on conservation, retrofit and refurbishment. Prior to this worked for Cadw in Wales and for English Heritage. In addition, he worked on development of good practice including lead authorship of BS7913: Guide to the Conservation of Historic Buildings. He has developed competency schemes which includes the CIOB Building Conservation Certification Scheme. In the field of education, John is Professor on Practice at the University of Wales Trinity St David and delivers training within the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe.
