Constructure is an exhibition by four artists from the north of England who all use printmaking. Their work is inspired by ideas about constructions – such as physical/man-made structures, linguistic and social constructions and modular systems and patterns. Their work also looks at landscapes and the artists’ personal responses to place.
Constructure displays a range of printmaking techniques, including silkscreen, letterpress, trace monotype, aquatint etching and risograph, as well as the use of found imagery, text and collage. Work by each artist is on show, as well as some collaborative pieces.

David Armes works with letterpress printing, language and geography, and was shortlisted for the 2017 Flourish ‘Award for Excellence in Printmaking’.
Freelance Curator and Printmaker Jamie Barnes uses the Aquatint Etching technique to create atmospheric prints depicting architecture and structures in the landscape.
Benedict Rutherford is an artist and printmaker. His practice includes screenprint, lino-cut, found image and collage. He is interested in utopian optimism, semantics and the production of meaning.
Bonnie Craig works predominantly with pattern. She explores the balance between order and disorder through screenprinting, by creating modular pattern elements that can be combined, repeated and rearranged in endless permutations.
