From Academic to Consultant: Developing Your Skills and Value as a Consultant

Join Cambridge Enterprise and expert Mo Ali of The Innovation in a session designed to support social science researchers who are interested in developing their potential as a consultant.

The training will focus on soft skills including developing confidence in your expertise, identifying where you can make a difference, generating and managing potential consultancy relationships, how to value your time and knowledge, and how to build your network and create new opportunities.

This session is for anyone who is considering delivering academic consultancy, or is already working as an academic consultant; or for researchers considering developing a career in consultancy.

Event details:

  • Date: Wednesday 21st September
  • Time: 10:00-12:00
  • Location: Online (joining link sent out prior to webinar)

Who should attend:

  • Established researchers who may already be providing expertise and consultancy, but would like to consolidate their skills, learn to create more opportunities, and explore consultancy routes more systematically alongside research
  • Researchers, including post-doctoral researchers and early career academics, who don’t yet have experience in carrying out consultancies but are interested on how to market their expertise and build their skills and confidence.
  • Even if you are an experience consultant, come listen like a beginner, you might find something out that you never considered before.

*Please note: this event is open to members of the University of Cambridge only.
