Event Details

Welcome to the first Consultants Forum in Kent - designed to support and help HR Consultants working or living in the Kent area.

We asked the HR community whether you would like a platform to meet and there was a resounding "yes".

Jo Dodds will be speaking about working for yourself and offering advice. She is currently running a survey to help with discussions click to contribute.

How to ‘Live More’ Whilst Running Your Successful Coaching or Consultancy Business

Do you ever feel too busy and overwhelmed?
• How often do you get to do the things you want to do rather than the things you feel you should do?
• Do you feel organised and ‘on top of things’?

If your answers are yes, not enough and not really then this talk is for you!

In Jo’s world POWER stands for Productivity, Organisation, Wellbeing, Energy and Resilience and she believes you need all of them to ensure that you get to ‘live more’, which she defines as being able to do more of the things that you want to do and less of those that you feel you should do or must do.

Jo will be talking about how you can implement her 5 Fundamentals to enable you to feel more productive, organised and calm whilst running your successful coaching or consultancy business.

Jo’s Bio

After 18 years in the 'corporate world' in Retail HR with companies such as B&Q and Staples and, Jo started her first business in 2005 publishing eight local community magazines. She extended her offering by helping the businesses to market online including specialising in Wordpress websites, and then, from 2009, social media.

In these days of portfolio careers, she has two main areas of focus:

She works with home-based coaches and consultants to improve their productivity, organisation, wellbeing, energy and resilience. Her podcast is POWER to Live More where she interviews interesting people about those topics and has completed over 100 interviews so far!

She is also a consultant, speaker and trainer on the topics of Employee Engagement and wellbeing, including working as Strategy Director within Engage for Success, the UK movement spreading the word about employee engagement, now part of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. She also co-hosts the Engage for Success podcast, interviewing guests around engagement and leadership, with nearly 300 shows so far.

Professional photography and video production will be taking place at the event, and these images may be used on future promotional materials for CIPD. Please note that by attending the event, you are giving your consent for your image to be used on any CIPD promotional materials.

CIPD Kent Branch

We are the Kent branch of CIPD - the professional body for HR and people development. The not-for-profit organisation champions better work and working lives and has been setting the benchmark for excellence in people and organisation development for more than 100 years.

We have a wide range of organisations and CIPD membership and we respond to this with a full selection of CPD and networking opportunities.

Due to the geographical spread of the county we have 3 area groups – Mid Kent, West Kent and East Kent. Between them they regularly hold sessions with guest speakers on subjects requested by the members. Most events are supported by local companies who host the events and provide an opportunity to meet other HR practitioners.

We also appreciate the specialisms within HR and have Special Interest Groups that meet regularly and occasionally have speakers. These groups include Health and Social Care and Senior Practitioners. Similarly we have smaller bespoke groups, Self Managed Learning Groups that operate throughout the county. These include the Coaching Groups in East Kent and West Kent. We  encourage the creation of new groups so if there is not an area covered, why not set one up?

Join our LinkedIn group, follow us on Twitter, like our Facebook page, or sign up to our emails for the latest news and events information.

Come along to an event and meet our friendly and welcoming committee members and the wonderful HR community of Kent!
