Event description

Description

The Scottish Government Directorate for Energy & Climate Change in association with the Scottish Heat Network Partnership (HNP) Practitioner Group is delighted to invite you to a public consultation workshop event discussing proposals set out in the Consultation on Heat & Energy Efficiency Strategies, and Regulation of District Heating.

The same workshop is being held in two locations, Edinburgh and Inverness, to enable as many participants as possible to attend. Both workshops will be the same. You only need to attend one event.

This is the registration page for the Edinburgh event, if you want to register for the Inverness event go to this link: https://consultation-event-inverness.eventbrite.co.uk

To ensure as many organisations as possible can attend, the number of places available to each organisation may be limited.

Background and context

On 24 January 2017, the Scottish Government (SG) published its Consultation on Heat & Energy Efficiency Strategies, and Regulation of District Heating document. It is one of a number consultations published in January 2017 on the draft Climate Change Plan, the draft Energy Strategy and Scotland’s Energy Efficiency Programme.

The consultation document and supporting information is accessible at: http://www.gov.scot/Publications/2017/01/9139

This is a high level policy scoping consultation that seeks views and further evidence on a broad scenario for district heating regulation and local heat & energy efficiency strategies. Your views are invited on the role that regulation could play in both:

  • the strategic planning at local level of heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency programmes within our new Scotland’s Energy Efficiency Programme (SEEP), which is due to begin from 2018 onwards, and
  • supporting the development of district heating in Scotland

These events are an opportunity for interested parties in Scotland to discuss the implications and opportunities presented by these policy developments. We would like to hear your views and give you an opportunity to inform Scottish Government proposals.

The events are being held in association with Scottish Heat Network Partnership (HNP) Practitioner Group. The Practitioner Group brings together a range of public sector, non-profit and commercial organisations actively developing or operating heat networks in Scotland.

If you have any questions please contact Mags Tingey, HNP Practitioner Group coordinator by email margaret.tingey(at)ed.ac.uk or telephone 0131 650 8093.
