ARRIVAL FROM 9:15 am FOR 9:30 am START
A consultation session led by Francois Landers, the CIPD’s Head of SME Development, with self-employed consultants and HR professionals in small businesses about the support provided by the CIPD – and what you would like it to do!
Group discussion will close at about 11.30am and there will be half an hour for informal networking afterwards.
You may have read in People Management magazine about the one year pilot project to deliver a range of HR support to small businesses in Hackney, Stoke on Trent and Glasgow, using a pool of local consultants. Francois will share details about this initiative: its background and purpose, how it worked in practice, how the consultants were sourced and remunerated, what we're learning.
He will also share the future thinking and plans about how the CIPD can better support people practice in smaller organisations and CIPD members working independently - how the CIPD could do more, suggested areas of focus and activity, and improved support and services for Independent members.
This is a great opportunity to have your say! We intend the session to be highly interactive and a really great discussion all round. Francois is keen to hear your reaction and input about ways the CIPD needs to adapt to support the self-employed better, and wants your input on what would work and be of most benefit to CIPD members working as consultants, coaches etc.
Francois joined the CIPD in 2011 following a commercial career within large FMCG organisations. He has also set up and run his own small business in the past. He currently manages the CIPD People Skills programme and is leading the CIPD’s thinking on how it can better Champion Better Work and Working Lives for those working with and within smaller organisations.
This event shares the latest initiatives and thinking within your professional body the CIPD, and encourages your contribution to future direction. It’s a facilitated discussion providing strategic insight into a variety of options and activities for the CIPD to address people issues within SMEs and to broaden its support to members.
The event counts as a Continuous Professional Development activity for CIPD members and Certificates of Attendance are available at the end for your CPD records.
