CONSUMED: SYMPOSIA (Part 1)

This event is a unique gathering where we will dive deeper into the themes of the CONSUMED exhibition. Join members of Women’s Research Wānanga, guest speakers and cherished collaborators on Saturday 29 November for a day of insightful discussions, surprising performances and interactive workshops.Working collectively, we will examine emotions, materialities, physical and psychological states of becoming and being consumed by and through a range of social, material, emotional and psychological forces. We will also provide space for rest, reflection, and collective joy through sharing, laughing and thinking together. Come join us!

12:30pm - WRW Guided tour of CONSUMED exhibition (Location: ArtHouse Jersey @ Capital House)

2pm - Welcome

2:10pm - WORKSHOP: Somatic Meditations and Deep Listening (After Pauline Oliveros) with Dr. Caitlin Shepherd.

Tea Break

3pm - LECTURE: Hags with Attitude: with Nina & Friends. A performative lecture exploring Sharon Blake’s concept of HAGITUDE. How do we embrace our Crone Era? Can we battle and accept the biological changes and shifting positions in society that comes with the natural process of female aging? (45min + 15 min Q&A)

4:30pm - PANEL DISCUSSION: CONSUMED : Coming in through the side door. India Hamilton (Hypha Consulting), Róisín Shaw (Divine Creatures) and Rychèl Thérin Scott (WRW) discuss creating opportunities through grassroots dreaming and community building with vision, passion and creativity (45min + 15min Q&A).
