Description

Are today’s youngsters really the grab and go generation when it comes to food buying decisions? Are they happy to eat whatever is most convenient and cheap as some would have us believe or is there more to their buying habits than cost, convenience and following the latest food trend?

Whatever your own personal thoughts are on the subject, what’s hot today may not be hot tomorrow so you need to know what trends are here to stay and what fads you can leave behind. Attending this conference will help you understand why young consumers buy what they buy and how this impacts market opportunities within agriculture and food production.

Christine Watts, who heads up AHDB’s communications and market development teams, will open the conference and give a flavour of what’s to come and why this area is so important.

A reality check on today’s youth markets is being provided by Josephine Hansome, Director of Youth Research and Insight Team, from the award winning agency YouthSite. Josephine will use her expertise in this area to show how brands and business can better understand and engage with young consumers.

Steven Evans from AHDB will be presenting research findings, including insight into three key consumer areas; young consumers, health and international consumers buying preferences. The event will reveal what is important to young people when buying products and the role health plays in contributing to those buying decisions.

Dr Phil Hadley, who heads up AHDB’s export team, will report on new research commissioned by AHDB to add an international consumer dimension to the conference. He will use this new research to explain what is important to people when buying in key export countries and the role of British food.

The conference will also be showcasing some of AHDB’s current campaign work in this area and how AHDB is already making a difference for farmers and growers through targeted investment of levy funds.

These youngsters are our future so this really is a conference you can’t afford to miss.
