Trading Standards guidance on how consumer rights apply to your business

This session is being provided by Gloucestershire Trading Standards Service in relation to consumer rights and fair trading legislation, It is designed to be suitable for every type of business and will help to give the confidence to resolve a range of issues that consumers might raise. It involves an hour and a half highlighting the main issues and allows time for questions.


AGENDA

• Aims and overview of consumer rights legislation

• Key areas to be aware of, when selling to consumers

• Consumer rights when they buy goods and services

• Different legal requirements depending on methods of selling e.g. websites, face to face

• Unfair contract terms and conditions

• Overview of other consumer law which may be applicable


ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Helen Mansfield LLB (Hons). Helen has worked for the Trading Standards Service for nearly 20 years and previously lectured in law, after gaining her legal qualifications. As a civil law specialist Helen has provided legal advice to a range of businesses across Gloucestershire and coupled with the experience of running her own business and a Charity she has a unique understanding of some of the legal demands on those running a business. Trading Standards are the official regulators in relation to consumer rights legislation. The advice she gives will apply to all your trading practices around the United Kingdom
