Event description

Description

Immerse yourself in the Gentle Art of Slow Stitching with Michaela Bere of Blue Stiggy.

Hand Embroidery is a lovely way to spend some time. In our fast paced lives, it forces us to slow down.

Embroidery can be contemplative when practiced alone but when practiced in a group it can be a wonderful coming together of companionship, friendship, laughter and connection.

Spend a few hours with needle in hand, stitching this beautiful contemporary embroidered hoop. I’ll be on hand to help you choose a word to stitch and to teach you all of the stitches you’ll need. I’m also very good at threading needles ;). The finished piece will be finished in the hoop and ready to hang on your wall.

All materials and tuition are provided as well as some yummy treats and refreshments. You’ll leave with your finished hoop and a step by step guide to help you carry on with further projects when you get home.

About your Tutor

Michaela Bere runs Blue Stiggy. She is a Textile Artist and Maker, working with textiles and hand stitching from her Lincolnshire Studio in the UK.

Her work often uses hand embroidery and she loves to do things the old fashioned way, using tools and methods that haven’t changed for hundreds of years. Updated and bought in to use to make modern products for you.

As a maker it is important to Michaela to be mindful of the impact her business has on the planet. She considers carefully the materials she uses, whether that be paper made from textile industry waste, or vintage linen threads and environmentally friendly packaging.

This ethos fits perfectly with what we try to do at the workshop venue, Bricktree Gallery, Caistor's new creative space.

We believe in wellbeing and mindfulness, we reuse and upcycle wherever we can, we approach life and work with creativity, passion and kindness. All our workshop tutors are hand picked for their incredible talent, originality and teaching ability.

So we are super proud to welcome Michaela to this part of the county and thrilled she is sharing her considerable talents with us.
