Event description
A collaborative event run by the British Art Network and Contemporary Art Society

About this Event

This seminar will unite two Subject Specialist Networks: the SSN for British Art led by Tate and the Paul Mellon Centre for British Art and the SSN for Contemporary Art led by the Contemporary Art Society.

The day will focus on different aspects of contemporary art in the public and urban landscape. We will discuss public art and urban regeneration and question whether projects are led by a commitment to the community or whether they present corporate decoy strategies. ‘The Street’ as a programmable space will be explored and how this has manifested in post-conflict society. Exploring the audiences for such initiatives and how success is measured will also provide an opportunity to think about how models can be adapted and developed for future projects.

This event is primarily for members of the British Art Network and Contemporary Art Society but there are also a limited number of spaces for those not in the networks, who are interested in joining and being part of the day.

This event is free and includes lunch and refreshments.
