Event description

Description

Come along to the first combined meetup for content designers and digital analytics users within the Scottish public sector. This is a great chance to network, share ideas and learn new skills. The event is being held at Registers of Scotland's offices at Meadowbank in Edinburgh and is very much open to all content designers and digital analytics users across Scotland’s public sector, Scottish Government, local government, NDPBs, etc.

Speakers

Registers of Scotland

ScotLIS stands for Scotland’s Land Information Service and is an online service currently in development by a dedicated team here at RoS. It will ultimately allow citizens, communities, professionals and business users to find out comprehensive information about any piece of land or property in Scotland with a single enquiry. The new service makes RoS ownership information more accessible with map-based searching; displaying RoS data, but with the flexibility to add other “layers” to give context and share data from other sources.

Rachel Dowle talking about the mygov.scot CivTech Challenges

CivTech Challenge 5: How can we use technology to provide better access to public services through mygov.scot?

Rachel Dowle is Head of Content for the Scottish Government, leading strategy for content across the Scottish Government and the Scottish public sector’s wider content community. Rachel’s previous roles include Digital Project Manager at Tayburn and Web Manager for VisitScotland.com.

Sarah Burns from Skills Development Scotland

Sarah is talking about how Skills Development Scotland are using a new online tool called What Users Do to identify pain points in their users' journeys through inviting groups of users to take part in online tasks and talking out loud about their experiences of specific sections of the website.

Sarah is a Business Analyst for Skills Development Scotland, working primarily on qualitative customer insight and web analytics for the Digital Services team. This helps to inform strategic/development decisions within the team and in the wider business. Prior to working for SDS Sarah worked in newspaper research for The Herald & Times and audience (TV/radio) research for the BBC.

Andy Moore from Scottish Enterprise

Focus on what the user can do on your page; not what you or your page is doing for the user. Hold tight: Andy will take you on a tour of Google’s Material Design Content Standards. Be captivated by how they ‘wear the trousers’ of content usability for Service Design, not just try them on…

Andy is a Senior Content Designer and Digital Marketing Professional at Scottish Enterprise. He has over 20 years' experience in marketing, editorial, multi-channel content management and consultancy, focusing on key areas of user and brand engagement.

For updates about future events please register on the #ScotAnalysts mailing list or on the Cross-government content community KHub.
