About this event
Update (July 2020)
Due to the continued uncertainty we have made the decision to move the forthcoming academy online. If possible we will arrange face to face meet-ups that could also be attended via zoom.
---
On the back of the 2019 pilot academy, we are giving another 18 students the opportunity to run a complete content design project for a client, learning from some of the team who created the discipline.
We are excited to be working with the charity SafeLives for the 2020 academy.
The course - learning by doing
Over 14 weeks, from 15 September until 15 December 2020, you will be working on content discovery, production and future planning for a chosen charity.
The academy combines the learning of our content design courses with the practical work of our content sprints. All our techniques are based on projects we have worked on in government, for charities and in the private sector over the past 11 years.
This is a hands-on course where you’ll be producing real content. We will take you through all the aspects of a content project:
understanding your audience
writing targeted content
measuring success
looking at the bigger picture - content strategy
What you get out of it
After the course you will be able to:
carry out focussed discovery research
identify and validate user needs
create accessible user-focussed content
analyse data and set success and value metrics
talk about all the elements of an agile content design project
show a real-world content design example you have worked on
talk about content design within your organisation from team to board level

Testimonial from the 2019 academy
The weekly sessions were well structured and seamlessly delivered by Hinrich and the team. The students were obviously highly engaged and the variety of the sessions built on each of their professional strengths. They learned why content design is important, how to create and design content and how to hone and perfect their content.
