Event description

Description

We would like to invite you to the opening event for the exhibition Contested Spaces and the official launch of Disability Arts Online’s Guide to Access to Work for the Arts and Cultural Sector.

The event takes place at The Foundry, 17 Oval Way, London, SE11 5RR 5pm-8pm on Tuesday 24th September 2019 with speeches and an exhibition tour at 6pm.

Contested Spaces is a group exhibition curated by Disability Arts Online Associate, Aidan Moesby. We are living in a time of rising extremism. In our everyday, space and structures are increasingly contested. There is a conflict over whose voices get heard and dominate the socio-political agendas of the future. ‘Contested Spaces’ explores this from a Social Justice, Human Rights and Disability perspective.

We have a series of other events throughout the exhibition, which runs until 9th January 2020. Please see https://disabilityarts.online/events/disability-arts-online-contested-spaces-london/

This event also celebrates the launch of our Guide to Access to Work for the Arts and Cultural Sector, a crucial resource for organisations employing disabled people and individuals facing barriers in employed and freelance environments.

Funded by Arts Council England, the Guide includes BSL and captioned videos, easy read, audio and text-based guides to help employers and employees navigate the process of applying to Access to Work for support to remove barriers in the workplace.

This is a rare opportunity for us to host our friends and colleagues at an event of this nature. It would be brilliant to see you there.
