About this event

Health • Mental health

This workshop invites participants to explore the concept of continuing bonds—the idea that relationships with those who have died do not have to end, but can evolve and remain meaningful throughout our lives. Grounded in contemporary bereavement theory, the session offers a compassionate and reflective space to reframe grief not as something to "get over," but as something that can include ongoing love, memories, and presence.

Who It Might Appeal To:

  • Individuals grieving the loss of a loved one, whether recent or long ago
  • Mental health professionals, counselors, and hospice workers
  • Clergy or spiritual care providers
  • Students or scholars studying death, dying, and bereavement
  • Anyone curious about alternative, more relational approaches to grief

What It Will Include:

  • An introduction to the theory of continuing bonds and how it contrasts with traditional grief models
  • Guided reflective exercises to explore personal memories and ongoing connections with the deceased
  • Group discussion and optional sharing to build community and normalize varied grief experiences
  • Creative activities/ideas, such as, memory baubles, letter writing, memory mapping, or art-making
  • A section all around digital legacies and how technology can be impactful in grief
  • Practical strategies for integrating continuing bonds into daily life and rituals

What Participants Will Leave With:

  • A deeper understanding of how ongoing bonds can support emotional healing
  • Tools and exercises they can continue to use in their personal or professional lives
  • A sense of connection and validation in their unique grief journey
  • Optional resources for further reading, support, or creative expression

This workshop affirms that love doesn't end with death, and that remembering and relating can be acts of healing.

This session is compleetly free to attend and is part of the ongoing efforts from Full Circle Funerals to provide creative bereavement support opportunities to the local community.
