Event description

Description

A One Day Workshop designed to inspire and motivate.

A Self-sustaining Model to deliver Midwifery Continuity of Carer.

One to One Midwives have been providing continuity of carer within the NHS for 9 years. We have grown from 2 midwives to over 80 midwives working in a caseloading model to deliver continuity of carer rates that exceed 95% for a woman to know her named midwife. Delivering consistent excellent maternal and neonatal outcomes, which includes a stillbirth rate of 2.3 per 1000 births and a prematurity rate of 4.5% against a UK average of 8%. All of this achieved within a self managed team structure, increasing clinical and operational autonomy, as well as a high job satisfaction rate.

One to One midwifery care is focused on building relationships, removing time constraints, empowering midwives and MaMas (mother and midwife assistants) to organise their own work and time off ensuring a work/life balance that meets their needs as well as women and their families.

Come and join our One to One Continuity of Carer workshop, to find out how we do it, and how you can do it to.

Our workshop will cover:

  • How One to One went from 2 midwives to over 80 becoming the largest caseloading midwifery service in the UK.

  • How self managed teams achieve greater midwifery autonomy and safer care.

  • How our Hub and Spoke model supports the teams without the need for micro-management

  • How we create empowered staff to take accountability and responsibility

  • How this model can work in any context

  • What our experiences, with 8 teams across the UK, can teach you

  • How to transform your maternity services to meet the recommendations of Better Births

This workshop is intended for people who work in the maternity field, particularly midwives, commissioners, allied health professionals, care professionals and others looking for ways to tackle an increasing demand for community midwifery care, a national shortage of midwives and ongoing budgetary pressures.

You will hear from our experts about the possibilities and challenges of transforming your organisation. Be inspired by our case studies. Engage in active discussions with like-minded colleagues, and be supported in your early thinking about the steps you can take to this make this happen.

With the Better Births Report and the NHS Long Term Plan placing an emphasis on delivering safer, personalised maternity care in the community, we need to take control of the future – mothers and babies need us to act now.
